Diem. Ateneu il·lumina’t

The project suggests a link between the light and the word as a knowledge metaphor. In this project, both are the same thing that allows to make visible, to understand, to share and to spread both concepts understood as a means and not as an end. They suggest an installation that represents the purest essence of the Ateneu.

Logistical Morphologies and Rigging Matter in Motion by ID4A

A Methodology invented by founders of ID4A, architects Rania Hoteit and Malek Idriss that focuses on 3D printed pre-formed rigged structures and scaffolds for further controlled manipulation and mold-less fabrication by combining 3D Printing and Robotics.

Rood wood by rENs

How do different wood species react to immersion in red pigment? How does colouring influence the pattern of woods, and to what extent will the material affect the outcome? Following through on project colourful experiments with textile and ceramics, studio rENs arranged an encounter between red pigment and wood.

Tannic Acid by Steven Banken

Tannic Acid or Iron oxide in liquid form is applied on the materials. One element is applied on the material that contains the other element naturally. Two totally different materials will have a striking change into approximately the same color.

Passages of Chinese characters are input to a computer which transmits them to an electrical system that actuates an array of solenoid valves. The valves release droplets of water on the ground as the tricycle moves forward, thus forming Chinese characters that slowly pool together and eventually evaporate entirely.

Glusion by Sci-arc & X Lab Studio

In the search of new materials and fabrication methodologies, glusions’ approach establishes a constant dialogue between the physical properties of a material and the design intents. This is an investigation and interest in material behavior and form finding. this project engages the robotics in a rheological quest. glusion addresses geometry, motion control, variable material and forming logics.

Melt project by Rui Pereira

Melt Project is an ongoing series of objects that intend to extend the lifetime of disposed plastic objects as a sustainable response to the dependence of our society of petroleum and its products. This serie of objects is a reflection about plastic consumption. A redefinition of the life of the plastic garbage and how it can be transformed into alternative everyday objects.
