Baltan Laboratories is a collaborative platform for future thinking that places art and design research at the core of its activities. Baltan claims the role of pioneer in the cultivation of the existing potential in the high-tech and creative industry. Baltan is both a network and a methodology: it sees the lab as a way of working and as a place where ideas are put into practice through projects. In these projects freedom of thought, openness towards the unknown, experiment and playfulness are key. Baltan stimulates a cross-disciplinary approach conducted in an open-minded atmosphere based on trust, empathy and mutual inspiration.
They have a small fixed staff of 5 and work in close cooperation with several VIF’s (Very Important Freelancers). Do you have an interest in art, science and technology and are you eager to expand your capabilities? They are looking for 2 all-round and proactive interns to assist the Baltan team with their daily activities, and more specifically with the organization of the projects Age of Wonderland and Economia.
About Age of Wonderland and Economia
Age of Wonderland and Economia are two of Baltan’s multi-year open-innovation programs. Age of Wonderland initiated global exchange to foster social organization. This year’s theme is Big Data. Big DADA? From September till October the Age of Wonderland fellows are in Eindhoven to work on their projects that will presented to the audience during the Dutch Design Week.
With Economia they want to move beyond the neo-liberal economic model and look for alternatives. They will kick-off this program with Economia festival in January 2017. During this festival lectures, films and artistic installation will challenge and trigger their vision of economy.
Starting from August/September 2016 until January 31st, 2017 for at least 4 days a week. Starting dates and period are negotiable.
They offer a broad and diverse working environment in a small and highly active cultural organization. You will be working in close cooperation with the fixed staff, and your tasks include (but are not limited to): the organizing, setting up and hosting of events, arranging equipment, online communication, managing the social media channels, as well as having contact with participants and partners. During projects and events, you will also help with administrative tasks, such as the financial wrap-up, archiving and documenting results, and making media-archives. For the internship they pay a small financial endorsement following their internal standard regulations.
You have a strong interest in the cultural sector and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves. You want to learn more about how to organize cultural events. You are fluent in either Dutch or English. Knowing your way in and around Eindhoven is an advantage.
