Today we present  Collection by Casper Tolhuisen. The food project is based on the creation of a set of tools in order to imitate the mass production processes  and experiment with new ways to cook food. Thus, as it can be seen, the main focuses of it are both experimentation and design process.

His interest for food and outdoor cooking started in his youth when he was six he started in baking pancakes in the backyard of their parents on a methylated spiritstove.

In daily life we consummate lots of food witch is mass produced, we don’t have a clue of what we eat, and how it’s made.
In the collection by Casper he want to create the possibility to experience food and preparation again, and experience what it is to make your own food and drinks.
To see the beauty of the process and the gratification your can get by creating your own.
He was interested for traditional cooking methods, such as smoking and distill.

His research starts with a article he was find in a newspaper or magazine, it catches your mind and incites Casper to do research.
He work with common available materials such as flowerpots, pans, chicken wire and adhesive tape. With this common materials Casper create her first working models. The characteristics of the first models are the base of the design.

 

Distillery Machine

This home Distillery Machine is designed and made to make your own liquor.
Everyday objects and their forms are being translated into a functional design realized with ceramics, stainless steel, rubber and glas.
Distilling your own alcohol is illegal, therefore you are not allowed to sell a working distillery machine. If you are willing to buy a standard cooking pan, you can complete the set and start making your own booze.

 

Cold Smoke Pot

The smoke pot is created from a stack of flower pots.
From this stack he has rediscovered the principle of smoking and practical knowledge gained.

From this model he started designing and customizing which resulted in the cold smoking machine. Cold smoking is to say that the smoke during transport in the pipe cools the smoke temprature somewhere between 25 and 35 degrees.

 

The Hot Smoke Pot

The Barbecue Pot

Originated from the Guvec, a Turkish traditional method of preparation. An earthenware dish filled with meat and vegetables and sealed with dough and in the coals of the fire cooked. His interest was aroused by the functional use of ingredients and cooking with fire. This method of preparation, I have translated into the barbecue pot.
