Give me food, give me a house, give me hope, give me love….A weekend helping the homeless. There are estimated 1 Billion homeless in the world. There estimated 90,000 homeless in France. There are estimated 2,500 homeless in Paris alone. We felt compelled to spend a weekend trying to help them. In a way that they could help themselves, that cost nothing, and could be done with what they have. After spending some time with them and thinking of a solution, we came up with a concept of creating visual metaphors on the cardboard signs they use. Using basic drawings of houses, beds, food, and cups (drawn by them) we removed integral parts of the drawing and replaced them with slots for coins. When passers by put money on the board they give the homeless what they need, on the drawing and in life. We discovered that the ones that used the board recieved 43% more money than normal. This project was concieved on a friday and finished early on a monday with not much sleep in between.
