Desk made of solid oak, offering a real storage solution
Published on November 9, 2015
Solidwood work still has plenty of hand labor. And when it comes to making such a complete product, that becomes very obvious. This desk is made in a semi-industrial setting were all the different parts are shaped in different methods and placed together by hand. To help the workers, parts are numbered and marked to guide them into commplex process of assembly.
These are photos of the evaluation of the first model, that had to be retouched, and modified to avoid the chipped edges and some rough details that we can see here.
The resust of all this hardwork is METIS, named after the Greek godess that personified Wisdom, Cunning and Prudence.
Some like it messy, others clean and this desk was developed to offer as many and varied types of storage as possible, so each one will find in it a comfortable way to work. With three drawers, two lidded sections and one secret compartment. METIS is also prepared to conceal all device cables and wires so that the working top remains clear and uncluttered.
Several little details where considered in this product. From the inclined fronts that keep the drawers out of the way when seating, to the concealed string that opens a secret compartment, all carefully designed and tested to be functional and comfortable to use.
