With a strong passion for traditional craftsmanship and refined details, Overgaard & Dyrman is a contemporary design brand located in Copenhagen, Denmark. By merging traditional craft techniques with modern technology Overgaard & Dyrman’s approach to design, bridges the past with the present.

“We celebrate traditional craftsmanship and embrace modern technology by bringing the two together in our way of designing and manufacturing. Our ambition is to make honest design where we salute the beauty of imperfection. We love furniture with a handmade finish and merged with the use of modern machinery, it gives us the opportunity to preserve the fantastic craft skills that are still among us, and to combine these with complex forms and modern manufacturing methods.”

The Wire Collection finds inspiration in traditional saddlery and metal work, and challenges the synergy and contrast in the use of materials. The honesty in genuine materials and the balance between functionality, ergonomics and manufacturing define Wire and reflect its purpose.

The Wire Collection comes in a black coated steel frame or in a semi satin chrome plated steel frame.

The upholstery front is made in Yellowstone or Elegance leather from Sorensen Leather. Both types are beautiful leathers, but with specific and differing specifications. The back is in 3,5 mm full-grain leather.

Yellowstone is vegetable-tanned aniline leather with a wax finish, meaning the color will change over time. The individual story of the animal is mirrored on the surface of the leather making each hide exceptional and unique.

Elegance is pure aniline and made exclusively from the best raw hides. The leather is tanned with chrome but subsequently exposed to a vegetable tanning process, offering greater firmness. Natural color differences may occur on the hides. Each piece is uniquely numbered.

“We love to work with leather and leather work has become an important part of our designs.”

A traditional approach to design has been the key to make the upholstery for the Wire Collection. Combining full-grain leather with soft leather as it has been done for generations within saddle making, a construction that meets structural, ergonomic and visual desires has been made.

“It has been a goal to make the leather part complement the steel frame in the best possible way. By using leather straps intertwined with the metal rods we believe a fine interaction between the two contrasting materials has been achieved.”

Modern technology such as 3D-computer drawing and computer calculations combined with modern machinery has made it possible to design and manufacture the steel construction of the pieces in the Wire  Collection. But when it comes down to the final production all welding is done by hand, and a special fixture makes it possible to hold each rod in its correct position during the welding process.
