Mangos, a pop and graphic foam basket
Fully thought out, produced and finalized at Krux Amsterdam, each “Mangos” fruti basket was laser-cut in large plates of colored polyurethane foam and then assembled by hand by François Dumas.

By re-thinking cushioning techniques, the project uses conventional rubber foam mats which, with the help of elastic bands, come out as an ornamental form. The rectangular foam mat remains at a stretch and is only changed by layering and gathering it. Compared to common upholstery technics Zieharsofika achives the same result by compressing the foam. The gathering causes a strong and stiff core while the surface is still flexible and soft.

A chair becomes a sofa, and a sofa becomes a chair. Whenever I see it the beauty of the simple geometrical structure and its repetition always fascinates me. SOFA_XXXX is made of just 4 different lengths of sticks, rings and joints. The parts on their own don’t seem to be special, but when put together in a regular pattern their beauty appears. It can be contracted, which makes it easier for transportation.
