From Insects by Marlène Huissoud
Science is exploring the potential of insects for food production and to satisfy our future dietary needs, however, Marlène Huissoud is primarily interested in using insects as co-partners in the design process.

Dilettante shapes is an experimental process which investigates how objects change during the procedure of communication.
Firewall is an interactive media installation created by Aaron Sherwood in collaboration with Mike Allison. A stretched sheet of spandex acts as a membrane interface sensitive to depth that people can push into and create fire-like visuals as well as expressively play music.
Pewter transmutation is the result of an approach towards experimental artisanry to be performed in a public place. It combines sophisticated handcraft (oak wood) with an low-cost technique of casting pewter into backing paper.
Work made by with Marjan van Aubel and James Shaw. They have been developing an exciting new material from waste wood. The project has been a collaboration between the RCA and the American Hardwood Export Council.
The Balloon Bowls is a project created by casting mass-colored, strong synthetic plaster into a balloon, after which a second balloon is inserted, and inflated. These two balloons act as flexible moulds, resulting in always unique shapes for the bowls.
Project Rimino redefines mobile experience through human factors research and design thinking. Informed by human experience, the project is guided by both observational and experimental design research methods. The Rimino concept is an E-paper mobile device with a user interface inspired by print posters. Historically, as technology has progressed, devices have become more conspicuous.
Gary creates small kinetic sculptures with a certain whimsy and playfulness. Though certainly not of the high-tech of my interests, Gary’s work succinctly captures both the essence of playul design and the connection of play to intimacy. Whether it’s millions of transistors or three gears, playful technology is wondrous.
Molecular gastronomy is a subdiscipline of food science that seeks to investigate the physical and chemical transformations of ingredients that occur in cooking.
In the search of new materials and fabrication methodologies, glusions’ approach establishes a constant dialogue between the physical properties of a material and the design intents. This is an investigation and interest in material behavior and form finding. this project engages the robotics in a rheological quest. glusion addresses geometry, motion control, variable material and forming logics.
Xylinum is a research project that poses the question: what could future materials and production processes be like?
To celebrate the October 2010 grand opening of the Mint Museum Uptown, the Mint Museum of Craft + Design (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA) has launched theProject Ten Ten Ten, commissioning 10 of the world’s most innovative craft artists to create works. Joseph Walsh, being one of the commissioned artists, created the Enignum Motion Table, which is now in the Museum’s permanent collection.
