Fonts come from calligraphy. Working with a broad nib pen quickly establishes how important this ancient tool has been in the shaping of the Latin alphabet we use today. This is an improvised A-Z using Blackletter and sharpened italic forms.

New Handwriting Tools, workshop by Job Wouters / ECAL

Job Wouters aka Letman, well known for its lettering artworks, took out of his suitcase pencils and markers, as well as strange utensils much different than a typical pen and asked to his students to create, produce or divert objects from their original function to turn them into new handwriting tools.

Dyskograf by Avoka

DYSKOGRAF is a graphic disk reader. Each disc is created by visitors to the installation by way of felt tip pens provided for their use. The mechanism then reads the disk, translating the drawing into a musical sequence.

Dry the river 3D fly posters by Xavier Barrade

Dry the River created these huge 3D paper-craft horse posters in collaboration with FOAM/Sony Music creative Xavier Barrade to promote the new UK band.

Banana “Nana serif” typography

Luiz Risi & Yomar Agusto had to boost banana sales, using only the 2,7 centimeter Chiquita-label as a medium. Together with my brazilian friend Yomar Augusto – graphic and type designer, they created a font made with Chiquita banana peels: the Nana Serif typography.
